The Health Benefits of Eating Fish
Fish is great for our bodies and is packed with essential nutrients our bodies need! Not only is it packed with Omega 3 Fatty Acids ,but also Protein and Vitamin D. Our bodies need protein to help maintain healthy strong muscles & bones and it’s especially important for kids to get adequate protein so they will continue to grow at a healthy rate.
Our bodies also need Vitamin D, which helps with bone formation, health and immunity. Again these are things that are essential for growing children, especially for their immune systems when starting schools.
Our bodies need the Omega 3 Fatty Acids as these are crucial to brain development and health. The brain cannot function optimally without enough healthy fat. This is one of the reasons that most infant formulas have Omega 3 Fatty Acids added to them so children get enough for their brain to develop as it should. Also your body has fat soluble vitamins which cannot be absorbed without fat. There are also fat soluble hormones that cannot be dissolved without fat. The Omega 3 Fatty Acids help with not only fat soluble hormones & vitamins and your brain development and health but also help with blood pressure, triglycerides and cholesterol with lowering it.
There are so many great delicious fish out there that are great to eat. For adults there are so many great sushi restaurants if you like sushi with wide varieties of fish. For children it is so great to start them at an early age with fish. Start with off when they start with solids and after cooking the fish puree it with some fruits or vegetables. Salmon, Pollock and Sole are great fish that are high in fatty acids and low in mercury. This way they start getting used to it at an early age and will continue to eat it as they grow up.
It is optimal to eat fish 3 to 5 times a week if possible.
